Vision¶

Unison exists to give you more agency over your time. It should handle the administrative friction of daily life so you can invest more attention in work, rest, creativity, community, and relationships that matter to you.

Your assistant acts for you. It learns your preferences and commitments with your authority, keeps continuity on your trusted home node, and explains what it is doing. It does not create an engagement loop or quietly substitute a third party's objective for your own.

Product principles¶

• You are the principal. The system serves your interests and rejects incentives that turn your attention or context into a product.
• Local authority and replaceable providers preserve continuity and choice.
• Relationship awareness never becomes automatic access.
• Accessibility is part of correctness, including confirmation and recovery.
• Useful autonomy grows only with demonstrated safety, inspectability, and control.
• Leaving must be possible through per-person export, deletion, backup, and restore.

UnisonOS names the appliance runtime and operating surface. Unison names the assistant platform and experience. Neither is positioned as a general-purpose operating system or smartphone replacement.
